"It's gonna be another flip flop summer...kick off your shoes and call up your lover."

Once again, I start off with a Kenny Chesney lyric...what are the chances?

It's been a long time since I've been bloggin'...and I decided I'd share how extremely anxious I am for summer to get here. Third term is almost over (2 more weeks!!!! :)) and so that means I can see the light. Aaaand, the last day of the term is the day I leave for Topeka!!! My nephew Brayden is getting baptised so my parents, my sister, Lindsay and I are all going there for the weekend. I'm super excited. Topeka or bust!

The week after I get back from Topeka, imma be goin on the biology trip again! I can't wait to be in the sun. This year, instead of being friends with 1 person on the trip, there will be a bunch of seniors going and it's going to be a much needed break. We've all been counting down the days since like November...and it's down to just a few weeks. Finally.

Well, a big decision has been made.

I'm going to be a UTE!

I applied to BYU, Utah State, and the University of Utah. I won't lie, the only reason I applied to BYU was to prove I could get accepted, which I did. I don't really have any desire to live in Logan...and I know the U is right for me. It has a super good art department and the dept. chair lady loves me! Although I think it'd be sweet to live on campus, I decided I'm going to live at home for now. I want to have some $$.

Other big news? I entered some of my art into the Springville Art show, and one of them was accepted! I was excited about that. A few days later, I got an email saying I won an award for the show...which was incredible! I was SO excited. Then the next day, I got another email saying that the previous email was a mistake and I actually didn't win an award. What a bunch of jerks...I was so mad. But I found out a few days ago, another piece I entered into the Weber show was accepted, which makes me feel a little bit better. But just a little.

Anyway, that's my life in a nutshell at the moment! Blog on.

"we were brave, we were crazy, we were mostly....young"

oh, kenny chesney. he's got some good 'high-school-esque' songs.
well i thought i'd fill you guys in on what i've been up to the past...6 months? haha it's been a while.

throughout my whole life, my cousins haley and kate have always been my best friends...we laugh about stupid stuff, tell each other everything, and we're known as the "heart-throbers." in august, my very own 'personal cousin' got married! it was crazy. sunday dinner is kinda weird now that one of us has a husband...but we'll always be the original heart-throbbers.

who knew senior year would be so fun? i'm having a freakin' blast. homecoming week was pretty intense...it made me really feel like a senior ha. the seniors destroyed the juniors in the powderpuff game by intimidation and sweet skill. i played tight end and offensive line sometimes. i LOVED it. it was supposed to be flag football, but it was pretty much just tackle. two seniors got kicked out and the game ended with some girl getting kicked in the face. so fun. whitewashing was freezing, but really fun. i went to the dance with my friend mike huff, he's hilarious! it was a good week :]
since about may, my friend kylie and i had been anticipating the brad paisley concert in september. it was so good...i love brad paisley. she took her friend colton and i took my friend dane, who doesn't even like country music. but when we were leaving, he said it was the best concert he'd ever been to. (take that, brad) we had really good seats, and it was the best concert ever.
one of my good friends, austin, left on his mission about a month ago. it was super sad. i miss him a lot, but letters keep comin' :]
halloween this year was kinda weird. the harvest dance was the same day as halloween, so for some weird reason i chose to go the to dance? i took my good friend casey. it was the 2nd most dramatic dance i've been to ha. but it was surprisingly really fun. we all dressed up as 80's aerobics instructors and perfected out dance moves --the jerk, stanky legg, and the pin drop--before going to the dance. the next day my family had a party and most of us dressed up...which never happens. it was a blast. (p.s. look at the picture to see me and casey about to do the pin drop)
last thursday night was the midnight showing of......yes, new moon. i was one of the freaks who went. yep. this lady i work with rented out a theater at the gateway with her sisters so i got a chunk of really good seats. my sister kristin called me from kansas right before she saw it and texted me afterwards saying how good it was. i took a bunch of my friends along with my cousins wife julie and her friend. we went to village in before the movie. it was so much fun! most of us were team jacob. mmm. :]almost a month ago i turned 18...which was super weird. i definitely don't feel that old. thinking about college scares the crap out of me, not gonna lie. i went to a scholarship night thing for utah state a few weeks ago and i got a scholarship for 2 years full tuition. i'm not sure if that's what i'm going to do, but it's an idea. i really want to go to the U. but we'll see what happens! when i think about the future, brad paisley's song "letter to me" immediately runs through my head. just thought i'd share such a great song.
"Oh you got so much going for you; going right
But I know at [18] it's hard to see past Friday night
.......And I'd end by saying have no fear.
These are nowhere near the best years of your life."

p-p-p-poker face...p-p-poker face...

ha. so it's been....what? 4 months? yeah, so i thought i'd update a bit. i've pretty much just been working my butt off at school and staying busy with volleyball.

i had a tournament in denver a few weeks ago and it was SO fun. i got to know my team a lot better. most of the girls on my team are really cliquey...so my coach kinda forced us to get to know each other. she asked some girls one time, "have you ever really tried to get to know kelsey? she's a pretty funny kid. you should try it sometime." we did pretty good overall...we took 21st out of 108 teams. it was a blast. there's a pic of my team standing on the coyote ugly bar. haa. a pic of us walking downtown denver, and a pic of a girl on my team putting orajel in another girls toothpaste...which was super funny.

i also went on the biology trip like 2 weeks ago to california....which was freakin awesome. we went to sea world, old town, wild animal park, disneyland, universal studios, a whale watching thing, the beach, and six flags. the highlight of the trip was definitely the ride X at six flags.............it's amazing. i went with my friend stephanie, but she doesn't like roller coasters, so i spent most of disneyland and six flags with a few fellas. it made it a lot less dramatic.

morp was about a month ago, i think. it was probably one of the funnest dances i've been to. i asked david lowe, who i didn't really know...at all. but he was hilarious. we quoted movies pretty much the entire time while everyone thought we were crazy. we had a pretty big group. for our day activity we went to rockreation in salt lake and went rock climbing. then we had dinner at caroline's house (i'm not really sure who she is...she just asked to be in our group) then went to the dance and had fondue after the dance. the theme was "saturday night fever." we had pretty good fun dressing up.

besides trips and stuff, i've had a ton of fun with my friends doing random stuff. it was wacky wednesday at school a couple months...and we went all out, unlike the rest of the school. it was fun. we usually go to lunch at my house because stephanie LOVES our toast, thanks to our new toaster that my dad spent way too much money on. the last pic on here is karly, me, and stephanie in ap art.
anyways, that's pretty much my life right now!

my life: updated.

holy shiz. get ready to read. my life is kinda insane right now. i swear i never have a second to sit down and think...except for right now! christmas break is pretty much the best thing ever...and i was kind of getting a lot of crap from certain people about not posting for a long time...so here it goes.

school: SUCKS. that sums it up. first term is over, but i got my first A- since 7th grade. i was kinda bummed about that. it was in AP biology, which is basically the hardest class i've ever taken. we had a really psycho sub for first term...he rambled like none other. we talked about beef jerky for half a period. ha. anyway, besides that class, it's not so bad. honors english gets a little insane sometimes, but it's alright. adult roles & financial literacy is interesting...i learn a lot about...life? ha. i absolutely LOVE ap studio art. my teacher is awesome. my painting class is really chill...i like it. math sucks. u.s. history is pretty fun..my teacher, mr. murphy, is weird. but i still like that class. seminary is probably my least favorite class haha. i can't stand my teacher....he's a short balding man with clammy hands who walks on his toes. besides all the poopy stuff, the highlight of my junior year has been powderpuff. ha it was awesome.

work: is fun. i work at dick's bakery as a cake decorator/night girl. my new boss is a real weirdie...but i'm getting used to her. morganne and i made the world's biggest eclair (not really) which was 6 feet long. it was pretty sweet. besides the drama there, it's really not too shabby.

volleyball: is intense. even though i didn't make the high school team, i'm still playing club ball which started in like november. i tried out for the 16 yr old team, but i was the oldest player there. ha. so they put me on the 17 elite team. i only know one girl, but my team seems pretty rad. my coach's name is joy...and honestly, i don't see anything joyful about her. she is the toughest couch i've ever had. i threw up 3 times at my first practice....it was intense. we're going to a few out of state tournaments this year, so i'm pretty excited.

harvest dance: was probably the most fun dance i've been to. i went with this kid in my ap art class. he was cool. we did a video scavenger hunt for our day activity...which was a freakin blast. this was definitely my favorite dance so far.

christmas dance: was dramatic. umm..yeah.

family: is still there. my sister kristin and her family, who live in kansas, came here for christmas. it was/has been so fun. i was able to see my new niece, kate! she is freakin cute and has a butt chin. we grabbed a few salads, went shopping, and had a grand old time with all the sistas.

christmas: is over. i had a wonderful morning; starting off the day by waking up at around 11. we opened presents, had some scones, and then went to a party. that night everyone and their dog (literally) came to our house. it was super fun, but insane. all the chillins had a sleepover. i had fun sledding (sort of...we kinda failed) with my nieces and nephews the next day. we also had our annual stringfellow gingerbread house party...love it.

well that's basically my recent life in a nutshell...a very small nutshell. happy festivus everyone!

"i'm falling into memories of you...and things we used to do..."

i was going to copy and paste the little "memory" post that everyone is doing...but i thought it was a tad boring. so i'll save you from reading the i-already-know-what-this-is-going-to-say-so-
why-am-i-reading-it post that is going around, and i'll just leave these instructions.

1. think of a memory you have with me...big or little.
2. think really hard about it.
3. think twice before you post it as a comment.
4. seriously think about posting it.
5. then post it.

P.S. the title of this post is from the song "one year, six months" by yellowcard. :D
