"Hi Kelsey..it's Briggs. Call me. Umm...do you know the song that's umm...Mom, what's it called?! The song that if you were in Chicago and there was a plane...love...would you get on? K bye."
That was basically the best voicemail I've ever gotten in my life from my nephew, Briggs. I called him back and he was wondering if I had heard the song from Brad Paisley's "yellow" CD about getting on a plane for love. He said he wouldn't...but he had someone in mind if he ever did. He wouldn't tell me who it was though. Just thought I'd share how cute my nephew is.
BUT speaking of love.....my best friend is engaged! WHAT?! Time is flying by and crazy things are happening. I am so happy for Kira and Josh. They are SO cute together and Josh treats her exactly how she should be treated....I just can't believe my fellow TKC member is getting married! Good luck to them jumping on that plane :)

COLLEGE.
First three weeks down. First two weeks? Worst two weeks ever. I'm almost positive that every possible thing that could go wrong, went wrong.
It all started the second week of school....
August 30th: Remember how it was rainy that morning? I remember. I also remember how I woke up late, didn't have time to pack a lunch, and I was in a hurry to get to the FrontRunner station before it left at 7:24. I also remember being pulled over right before turning onto the Frontage Road after apparently speeding on Chase Lane going 45 in a 25 zone. Oh yeah, and I got a ticket. And cried to the cop saying I had to get to the train...but he had no sympathy. Later that month I had to go to court, pay $115, and plead something...I'm not sure what I was doing. But the ticket didn't go on my record. So since I missed the train, I had to drive to the U. I got about half way there, and the red pony showed up. Then right as I got off the 4th south exit, I thought about the art supplies that I forgot at my house. I recalled my teacher saying, "Don't bother coming to class if you don't have your supplies." So I drove home, watched a little Top Gun...calmed down. Then went to Smoochies, grabbed myself a strawberry lemonade and got on the FrontRunner. I made it on time to my math class. I got through the rest of that day semi-smoothly.
September 1st: Not so smooth. I missed the train again. So I drove to school. Didn't have a parking pass, so at the beginning of the day I parked in the Art building lot, got out of my 3 hour class, and saw a ticket on my car. Thankfully, it was just a warning. But I was stupid and decided to move my car to the Library parking? Where you have to pay? WHAT was I thinking? I didn't realize that they would only give me one warning for parking in the Art building lot all day...so I moved my car. About a week before this, I had just started my new job at Zions Bank. Since I was a newb, I had to attend a "mandatory orientation via conference call." This fabulous conference call just happened to be during my math class and half of my drawing class. Thinking I could go to about ten minutes of math, book it to the library, pull out my laptop and attend the call, I left my math stuff in my car since I would only be there ten minutes. As I sat there waiting for class to start, I looked at the instructions for the conference call and realized the call started an HOUR later than I thought it would. So I had to borrow some paper from a nice kid sitting next to me. After math, I book it to the library and whip out my laptop...make the call, and find out that my laptop isn't cool enough to do the "online slideshow" I had to follow along with. 20 minutes later, I'm on a library computer, watching a dumb slideshow and listening to a monotone voice on the phone...realizing everything they're talking about doesn't apply to my job. So I played solitare on my laptop. 2 hours later, the conference call is over and my phone is dead. I show up late to drawing, and end up having to make some stuff up later. After drawing, as I'm walking back to my car, I get a text from my brother, Jeff saying he wants his mini fridge back. GREAT. I thanked him for making my day worse than it already was, and then we quoted Cool Runnings for a few texts. Since I had two more classes after parking in the Marriot parking, by the time I was leaving I had been parked there for about 6 hours. As I'm pulling out, they tell me I owe $8. EIGHT DOLLARS?! So I pull out my wallet and I have about 16 cents. I give them my card...they give it back. It was declined. So they pull out their camera, take about 6 pictures of my car and give me a ticket that says I will, "promise to pay." Just to add onto this chaos, I was almost out of gas and starving. I finally made it out of there and rode home in silence (that isn't a usual thing...I'm never in my car without the radio on) because of how stressed out I had been all day. I may or may not have also broken down on my way home. That remains to be unknown. But I did make it home eventually...I sat down on the couch and watched a good flick. A few hours later I got a text saying, "You should probably look on your porch." So I went outside and there was one of my friends with an Oreo blizzard. He knew I had a record high bad day....but it was a fabulous blizzard.

Good weekend coming up? You betcha.
So I just thought I'd let all you cyber folks what I'm up to.....
Today my institute teacher asked us what our favorite part about conference was. I immediately raised my hand and said mine was my mom's cinnamon rolls.
I'm pretty excited about it.
My parents went up to the cabin today and I'm left here since I have to work tomorrow night. But before my mom left today, she made some and left a pan here. I got home from school right as they came out of the oven. Talk about a good day. You know what I'm doin' this weekend.

"So long sweet summer..."
2 WEEKS?!!?
I only have 2 more weeks left of what was supposed to be the best summer ever? This can't be true...but every time I look at a calendar, I'm painfully reminded of that reality. I remember the last week of school, coming up with all these things I wanted to do this summer. Get a sweet tan, deep clean my room, go swimming all the time, burn shirts in the circle with my Sisterhood, or in the words of Gerald Garner (Heavyweights), I was gonna "hang out." But somehow I didn't really do any of that. Of course I did some fun stuff, but I feel like summer flew by way too fast. Now there's less than 2 weeks of it left. Kinda feels like it just started.
I'm sure you're wondering what I did all summer. Well, let me tell ya. The first half of summer went like this: wake up around 11, get semi-ready, go down to the barn...and paint. Then I'd get lunch with my parentals, and paint some more. Then usually go to work, come home, Facebook it, then go to sleep. Wake up, repeat. On July 3rd, we had our float in the Centerville parade, and on the 17th it was in the Salt Lake Children's parade. Since that took up most of my summer, I didn't have a lot of time to do all those things on my list. But I'll tell ya what I did do... My family went on a camping trip to Yuba Lake which, not gonna lie, kinda sucked. We ended up camping out in my sister's backyard, which turned out loads better. I was able to go to girls camp with my ward after going to the midnight premiere of Eclipse with my Israeli friend, Allie. I went to Cherry Hill with Kylie (but didn't find any cute lifeguards like I did last time we went), chopped 10 inches off my hair, went to the Days of '47 Rodeo for the first time, hung out with my sister and her family while they were here visiting from Kansas, witnessed a sweet cage fight in Payson where my sister's sister in law fought. Most recently, I went to the Danny Gokey concert with my mom and sisters. He signed my CD and my sister's chest. No big deal. That's my summer for ya.
Now I'm about to start my new life as a college student at the U. Super cool, eh? I'm blogging this on my new laptop, mooching wireless networks off of my neighbors. This year will be the last year that the Utes play BYU in football...the rivalry is almost over. On my bucket list I have a little something that says, "storm the field when the Utes beat the Cougars." It's gotta be a sign. This is the one and only year that it's possible for me to do that, so we all know that they will win.
Since the summer is almost over, I'm not really sure why I'm wasting my time blogging right now...So I'll end my post now. Blog on.

"It's gonna be another flip flop summer...kick off your shoes and call up your lover."
Once again, I start off with a Kenny Chesney lyric...what are the chances?
It's been a long time since I've been bloggin'...and I decided I'd share how extremely anxious I am for summer to get here. Third term is almost over (2 more weeks!!!! :)) and so that means I can see the light. Aaaand, the last day of the term is the day I leave for Topeka!!! My nephew Brayden is getting baptised so my parents, my sister, Lindsay and I are all going there for the weekend. I'm super excited. Topeka or bust!
The week after I get back from Topeka, imma be goin on the biology trip again! I can't wait to be in the sun. This year, instead of being friends with 1 person on the trip, there will be a bunch of seniors going and it's going to be a much needed break. We've all been counting down the days since like November...and it's down to just a few weeks. Finally.
Well, a big decision has been made.
I'm going to be a UTE!
I applied to BYU, Utah State, and the University of Utah. I won't lie, the only reason I applied to BYU was to prove I could get accepted, which I did. I don't really have any desire to live in Logan...and I know the U is right for me. It has a super good art department and the dept. chair lady loves me! Although I think it'd be sweet to live on campus, I decided I'm going to live at home for now. I want to have some $$.
Other big news? I entered some of my art into the Springville Art show, and one of them was accepted! I was excited about that. A few days later, I got an email saying I won an award for the show...which was incredible! I was SO excited. Then the next day, I got another email saying that the previous email was a mistake and I actually didn't win an award. What a bunch of jerks...I was so mad. But I found out a few days ago, another piece I entered into the Weber show was accepted, which makes me feel a little bit better. But just a little.
Anyway, that's my life in a nutshell at the moment! Blog on.
